Exchange of gases


  • Respiration is energy releasing enzymatically controlled catabolic process that involves a series of the Oxidative breakdown of food substances in living cells and therefore it is termed as cellular respiration.
  • Cellular respiration is of 2 types : (i) Aerobic respiration and (ii) Anaerobic respiration.
  • Each part of the plant takes care of its own gas exchange needs and also, the transport of gases occur from one part to another to a small extent and therefore it does not require a respiratory organ.
